Ambassador Koviljka Spiric handed a letter of gratitude for the help Canada gave to Bosnia and Herzegovina for elimination of consequences of floods in May 2014. A certificate was presented to the Director of the Bureau for the provision of International Humanitarian Assistance, Leslie Norton in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Development Canada on July 27th 2015. Spiric transferred gratitude of Minister of Security of BiH, Dragan Mektic who is also a signatory of the letters of thanks and all other institutions of Bosnia and Herzegovina as well as citizens of our country, saying that the help came at the right moment and that Bosnia and Herzegovina is observed.

She reminded that this Bureau she visited a year ago, shortly after the May flood, and that then they led discussions on the provision of adequate aid for the population and the institutions of Bosnia and Herzegovina as well as the participation of Canada in the donors' conference in Brussels.

Ambassador Spiric used this opportunity to personally deliver the invitation for international follow-up - a conference that will be held in Sarajevo in September this year. Conference will be dedicated to the of summing up the results on eliminating the consequences of floods, lessons learned, exchange of experiences and future plans and concrete action when it comes to this topic.

Norton thanked for the recognition and thanksgiving, and added that this is a delightful way to start a Monday, and the working week. She explained that her meetings are mainly related to assisting in various disasters and that there are rare moments when you get good news. This is what the ambassador spiric said considered good news in the sense that despite the huge damage, Bosnia and Herzegovina found the strength to move forward and in particular responded positively to the information on the engagement of Citizens during this natural disaster.

She said it's a great idea to organize - a follow up - conferencing to donors and everyone who participated in helping get feedback on the expenditure of funds. She expressed that it is satisfied that representatives of Canada will take part in the forthcoming conference. Concluded that Canada was and still is a friend of Bosnia and Herzegovina which includes sector and its interaction, but as she said - much better when we do not intervene -.
