Ambasada_Kube_OtavaAmbassador BiH Koviljka Spiric visited the embassy of Cuba at the invitation of His Excellency Julio Garmendia. On the occasion, she met with First Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs of Cuba Marcelino Medina and Director for Canada and Europe of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Cuba Elio Rodrigez Perez. During the talks, Spiric expressed her satisfaction with the new Cuban policy of opening and normalization of the relationship with the United States. She emphasized the excellent communication with the Cuban Embassy in Ottawa, stressing cooperation of the Cuban ambassador in Ottawa Julio Garmendia.

Ambassador Spiric informed His Excellency Medina that in May she briefed the Minister of Foreign Affairs Igor Crnadak about details of her visit to Cuba, that was during the presentation of her credentialsin March, and conveyed he invitation for him oft he Cuban side to visit the country. Vice Minister Marcelino Medina said that it would be a pleasure for Cuba to welcome the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina. He added that the visit would be an opportunity to enhance already good relationship between the two countries, especially in the light of the Cuban policy of opening internationally.

Spiric and Medina agreed that the visit could be organized at the end of 2015. The visit would be used for signing the agreement of Memorandum of Understanding between the two ministries, and to define the issues important to strength the relationship and cooperation between BiH and Cuba. Minister of Foreign Affairs Medina said that the Embassies of the Republic of Cuba,both in Ottawa and in Budapest are open for cooperation and for concretization of that generally agreed.
